Review: the Auto-Mapic

A few years ago I found an “Auto-Mapic” in a 2nd hand bookstore:

The box the Auto-Mapic came in

It’s a plastic container, about the size of an A4 piece of paper but thicker. A row of tabs along each side allows you to slide maps into view.

There’s a grand total of 15 map sheets in this one, so instead of having a large piece of paper in your car, you can make do with this nifty and handy little device.

As far as I’ve been able to find out, they were produced in Austria in the 1970s. The map in this one, a Benelux road map, indeed dates back to that period. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen, so I wonder how rare they are.
